  • Quinlan's Seafood set to create 25 jobs with expansion.

    Award winning smoked salmon producer Quinlan's have today confirmed that they have acquired the renowned international smoked salmon brand 'Kenmare Select' .

    'Kenmare Select' was started by the award winning chef Rémy Benoit in 1991 and like Quinlan's, Kenmare Select uses what is described as a traditional approach to producing it's suite of products .

    Commenting on the expansion Liam Quinlan Managing Director of the family owned Quinlan's fish says

    " Having 'Kenmare Select' in our stable will open even more international export markets for our ranges of smoked salmon which will be complimented by the Kenmare Select Brand This will see an expansion of our facility in Caherciveen and we are very happy that some of the most skilled smokers who have worked at 'Kenmare Select ' for so long have agreed to join our team."

    Quinlan's smoked salmon has won many awards including the supreme champion award at Blás na hÉireann as well as gold stars from the globally recognised Taste awards.

    In recent years Quinlan's Seafood has added to it's fish processing operation at Caherciveen and Retail fish shops throughout Kerry with the launch of it's Seafood Bars throughout Munster.

    Liam Quinlan has today confirmed that upwards of 15 jobs will also be created with the opening of a new seafood bar in Kenmare. This will be Quinlan's fifth seafood bar.

    Commenting Liam Quinlan said

    " We are landing the freshest catch on our Irish coastline and our motto is to bring our customers the tastiest seafood from tide to table. We opened our first seafood bar in 2011 in Killarney and have since opened in Tralee,  Killorglin,  Cork and now Kenmare.

    When we opened in Cork I announced with then Marine Minister Simon Coveney that we would be expanding further and. Kenmare offers us a fantastic opportunity as such an iconic destination for tourists."

    Quinlan's Fish was founded by Michael Quinlan in 1963. The family firm is now run by his sons Liam , Ronan and Fintan and this will see employment at the company rise to over 100.

    Quinlan's have 4 retail fish shops throughout Co Kerry.

    Quinlan’s Wins Top Award At Dingle Food Festival

    QUINLAN’S Fish, which has a shop in Tralee, has won the prestigious Supreme Champion Award at this year’s Blas na hÉireann, The Irish Food Awards.

    The company’s winning entry is its fresh crabmeat. The entry won over the judges’ taste-buds because of its fabulous flavour, freshness and delicate texture.

    There were more than 2,000 entries for this year’s Awards from all over Ireland, making it the biggest competition of Irish produce on the island of Ireland.

    Adjudication involved over 400 independent judges over a period of three weeks. The winners were announced on Saturday night.

     

    The highly acclaimed Blas na hÉireann awards have been setting the standards for Irish food producers for eight years and the number of entries this year broke all records, proving the value and vitality of the Irish food and drinks sector. For the winners, these awards are known to open doors to new markets at home and abroad.

    “We are absolutely thrilled,” said Liam Quinlan of Quinlan’s Fish. “We have four premium fish shops as well as three seafood bars supplying our produce direct from tide to table. My father, Michael, started the business 52 years ago and it has been 52 years of hard work since then. This is the biggest award and honour we have ever received and I hope it shows that quality always shines through,” said Liam.

    The Best Artisan Award, also sponsord by An Bord Bia, was won by Bainne Codhladh of Kanturk Co Cork, who won with its Lullaby milk. By taking the milk from the cows during the night it contains naturally high levels of melatonin which helps with sleep. It is particularly effective for babies with sleeping difficulties.
